Who is the Groundswell Climate Collective?
The Groundswell Climate Collective is a virtual space that works together on a variety of projects and initiatives for youth and young people, with a collective approach to considering our futures in light of the climate crisis and re-imagining possible futures through creativity. We acknowledge that the work we do across Turtle Island, takes place on unceded Indigenous Lands. We are especially committed to sharing BIPOC voices and prioritizing youth perspectives.
Our goal is to build relationships with local and international Indigenous groups who are addressing climate change issues by providing a platform to share stories of success and challenges. We provide ways for interested individuals to connect with climate related networks and organizations. Through our virtual spaces, we strive to create interventions on how to deal with doom, gloom, and eco-anxiety so we may foster actions that benefit the environment, all species, the human condition, and Mother Earth
The Spring Tide Project
The Spring Tide Project is a virtual space for young people to share the impacts of the climate crisis on their lives. We commission youth to create artwork that shares their lived realities, speaks to climate solutions, and/or imagines possible futures.
Envision the Big Picture
Envision: the Big Picture is a documentary that follows psychiatrist Joe Neidhardt, as he explores the moral, spiritual, and economic aspects of climate change. He speaks to a diverse group of leaders who share their unique perspectives of the bigger picture.
Groundswell: Indigenous Knowledge and a Call to Action for Climate Change
In tangent with the documentary, this book is a collection of essays from Indigenous and non-Indigenous authors. The book covers a range of topics from sharing thoughts on a gifting economy to sustainable agriculture. The authors encourage readers to reflect on ways they can change and adapt in the face of climate change.
We Were at COP26!
The Groundswell Climate Collective and the Center for Emergent Diplomacy co-facilitated an interactive workshop that speaks to the skills and knowledge needed to prepare for surviving in the near-term future in harmony with our Living Systems. Working together with workshop attendees, we introduced Indigenous Knowledges, Futurisms, and the “Adjacent Possible” solutions waiting to be discovered, offering resilience in the face of paralyzing complexity and rapidly expanding global warming.
This participatory workshop is designed as a collaborative dialogue with attendees. We will explore ideas, strategies, and practices, based on a combination of Indigenous knowledges and Western science, that can transform thinking about future worlds that are radically shifting and changing due to the climate crisis.
